Starting with mr Miah father of Naz “after 2 years in England I started working in veeraswamy in London in 1961 I started as the 2nd chef. After working there for one month I move up to being the head chef and it was one of the busiest in the uk in those days I was the head chef there for nearly 8 years then when me and my cousin had a bit of money we moved down to Winchester and started working in my cousins restaurant which was Momtaz Indian cuisine 82 high street.

I was the head chef there for 7 years from 1970 to 1977 then me and my cousin moved into Southampton and had a few years break getting my children and wife into this country I was the only working man with 5 children and me and my wife it wasn’t easy believe me.

After 4 years me and my cousin came down to Romsey one day not knowing where we were we saw that there was no Indian cuisine’s around and also with in a 10 mile radius so me and my cousin thought if we open a curry house here in Romsey a posh village it will be very successful and also nice people there wont be much trouble so we did. We opened Prince of Indian in 1982 on 5 church street. We were very successful in just a few years. After 3 years my eldest son started working with me at the front of the house as a waiter after a couple of years my cousin wanted to open one in Southampton so he sold his share to me which I gave to my son Naz it was me and my son running the place now in 1990. We were well established now, We had our moments there with Kevin Keegan and peter Shilton and a few more. After 11 years we sold there place to a few Turkish people now owning the kebab house. After selling the place me and my family went on a holiday. The day we came back we saw the people of Romsey had no where to go to dine in Romsey, so we opened a Indian cuisine in the heart of Romsey. The hundred doing very well it felt good to see my friends again and my loyal costumers me and my elder son opened Naz’s Cuisine, he is the directing manger now, and I shall be there to greet you….So hope to see you soon….

Naz’s…. … serving traditional food with a contemporary twist.
